From sparkling rosés to decadent reds – I love wine and I’m always on the lookout for new vineyards and labels to try. So I was excited to be approached by Le Petit Ballon last month to try their monthly wine subscription box and give them my thoughts. The concept was so simple yet so unique that I just had to give it a go and armed with my trusty camera and my corkscrew, I set about putting together the video review you can watch above.
What is Le Petit Ballon?
Le Petit Ballon is a wine subscription service with a difference. You don’t have to commit to large quantities or 12 months in advance and you can even opt to buy their individual bottles of wine online should you wish to try them again.
You can either opt to receive the Grape Expectation Subscription (2 bottles of ‘undiscovered’ vineyard wines) or the Age of Raisin Subscription (2 bottles of ‘prestigious labels’) each month and both boxes come with tasting notes and serving suggestions. What’s more, all of the wines included in your box are specially selected by Jean Michel Deluc (former sommelier at The Ritz, Paris) so you know they’ll be of the highest quality.
Is it worth subscribing?
That entirely depends on your budget and how much you love wine! If you’re partial to a glass and you love to discover new brands then I would definitely recommend signing up (even if you just trial it for 3 months).
I love the idea of having a couple of mystery bottles of wine to look forward to each month and I have every faith in Jean Michel to pick quality wines that I will enjoy. Everyone else who tried the two June bottles I received loved them and I think that the Le Petit Ballon subscription service is an ideal dinner party companion. Not only do you get two quality bottles to enjoy with friends, but you also get plenty of extra information to wow your guests with too!
