I can’t tell you how often I find myself scouring the internet for interior design inspiration. It’s become a bit of an obsession of mine lately, since I began the process of redesigning my bedroom. I’ve been creating board after board on Pinterest beautiful home interiors and I realised that one of my favourite styles of decor is relaxed bohemian.
Bohemian decor is characterised by the use of rich patterns and vibrant colours. The key to perfecting the style is to purposefully mix-match accessories, layer textiles and use contrasting yet complimentary tones (if that makes sense!).
Colour is an essential aspect of bohemian decor. Whether it’s eye-popping shades of magenta or cool blue tones – colour is key.
When thinking about where to find furniture and decor for your bohemian room, you can’t go wrong with Moroccan or tribal-inspired designs. If you can’t find pieces in colours that you want, get creative and give old furniture a new lease of life with a coat of paint or transfer unique or geometric designs to onto them.
When it comes to shopping for this style, I like to go to Anthropologie for textiles, Bohemia Deign or Jungalow for decorative pieces and India Jane for slightly classier looking touches. Bohemian design isn’t exactly ‘in’ right now, but it’s rarely out of style either. You can always pick up some nice items from places like One Kings Lane, Amara or The Conran Shop.
